Some information about the Public Partnership Forum (PPF)

The overall aim of the PPF is to enable Inverclyde CHP (Community Health Partnership; from April this will change to a CHCP (Community Health & Care Partnership) incorporating Health and Social Care services) to develop and maintain an effective and formal dialogue with the local community paying particular attention to those who could be socially excluded or face discrimination when accessing services.

Inverclyde PPF builds upon the work of existing community involvement and engagement structures such as Community Planning Partnerships and Community Care Stakeholders Network and also voluntary organisations like Community Voluntary Services.

The Don’t Waste Medicines Campaign was launched on 1 September 2009 and involved television and radio adverts as well as banners on local transport.

Members of the Inverclyde prescribing support team will be in the reception areas of Greenock and Port Glasgow Health Centres on Thursday, 21 January and Tuesday 26 January 2010 respectively, promoting the campaign and offering medication review to patients.

We would be grateful if you could promote this campaign by making people aware of these dates. A copy of the press release and poster are included with this blog.

The conference will allow for the sharing of good practice, skills and resources and the advancement of new and innovative approaches to service development when working with children and young people affected by alcohol misuse throughout Scotland.

Building upon last year’s launch the conference will include networking opportunities, speakers, workshops and regional forums.

Please be advised that the papers for the reports on the Fairer Scotland Fund (FSF) and Joint Asset Management papers have not been included as they have to go through Inverclyde Councils – Policy & Resources Committee on Tuesday 15 December.

The voluntary sector pre-IAB meeting is scheduled for Tuesday 15 December 10.00am-12.00pm at The Trust, Westburn Centre, 175 Dalrymple Street, Greenock.
(The voluntary sector pre-IAB meetings are an opportunity for the sector to discuss the published papers and put forward requests for clarification, comments or questions via the voluntary sector representative to the IAB.)

Home Start offers a unique service; they recruit and train volunteers who are usually parents themselves to visit families with at least one child under five, at home, and offer them informal, friendly and confidential support. The development of this project would require commitment from a host organisation from the voluntary sector to take it forward.

What is the UN International Day of Disabled People?
The United Nations General Assembly announced that Thursday 3 December is to be observed every year as the International Day of Disabled Persons.

The day focuses to empower persons with disabilities to better their lives and that of their communities around the world and a day to promote understanding about disability issues and to increase awareness.

The major objectives of the Programme are the following:
• To support the full and effective participation of persons with disabilities in social life and development
• To advance the rights and protect the dignity of persons with disabilities
• To promote equal access to employment, education, information, goods and services
